Meet the 2010 Summer Staff!

Here a few of our summer staff for 2010, keep checking back to meet everyone before the summer begins!

Hey! I’m Chris Montgomery and I’m going to be doing the A/V around camp for the summer, so if you see some guy lurking around with a camera covering his face, its probably me so do not fear! I’m going into third year at Trinity Western University and I am studying Communications. I love any piece of technology but more so I love using it to capture people’s lives and ideas, and so I think this opportunity at Camp Tulahead will be fantastic and I really look forward to meeting you all! Although I have visited a number of different camps around BC (including Tulahead) this is my first true summer camp experience, so I am very excited to see what God has planned for my life and how he will work through me this summer.

Hi, my name is Candace, aka Hiccup. This past year I attended the University of the Fraser Valley in the Early Childhood Education program. I also spent a lot of time working as a youth leader and part time Sunday school teacher at my church. I was a camper at Tulahead for 8 years and part of the LIGHT leadership program for 3. Last year was my first full summer on staff and I had so much fun I couldn’t help but come back this year for more.

My name is Mark and the first half of the year I was working on an M.A. in marriage and family therapy and the second half taking a break from studies to do some painting. I have been involved with Tulahead for at least 10 years now in a number of different capacities including Camp counselor, assistant cook, and co-leader of the LIGHT program. There is something about camp that keeps drawing me back. It is a special refuge from the ordinary where we are allowed to be childlike, enjoy nature, enjoy campers, and enjoy God and His presence among us.

Hello! I’m Ice, and I’m very excited to be back at camp this summer. This past year I’ve been taking teacher courses at Trinity Western University while hanging out with my youth group in my spare time. This will be my 8th year at Tulahead and each year just gets better and better. I love this camp because it’s all about the fun and people here can relax and engage in exciting activities that they normally don’t get to do. This is a place where lifelong friendships are made and I’m ecstatic to make more!

Hi, my name is Hannah. I have spent this year finishing my last year of highschool, working part time as a lifeguard and volunteering at my church. This will be my 5th year at camp. When I was younger I went there as a camper and then as a teen decided to become part of the LIGHT program. I finished SIT and LIT. To me Camp Tulahead is a place where I can be myself and grow in my relationship with God. I am excited for a summer filled with smiles, laughter and all the goodness and activities camp has to offer. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE.

Hi, my name is Dana……

Hi, my name is Lauren and this past year I completed my 2nd year of university at Trinity Western University. I am an Education student with minors in French and Linguistics (the TESL stream). I just heard about Tulahead for the first time this past year during missions week at TWU and I am excited to be a part of camp this summer! I remember having an amazing experience at summer camp when I was younger – my favorite part was meeting new friends and taking part in a wide variety of different activities. I’m excited to share in that experience with the campers and I hope to have some kind of positive impact on their lives!

Hi there! I’m Josh. I just completed my first year at Trinity Western University in the Human Kinetics – Kinesiology program. This will be my first year at Camp Tulahead and I am super excited! Part of the reason I wanted to come to camp this year is simply because I have never been to camp before. Anywhere. Ever. So I still have that kid inside of me wanting to go to camp and just have a blast! Making new friends, playing games, hanging out and jamming on my guitar around a campfire! The other big part is just to serve and be a part of helping to build God’s kingdom. I love having fun and goofing around in the summer time, but I want this summer to be different. I want this summer to mean something more than just some time off school. So if I can manage to have a positive impact on young lives and share the love of Jesus at the same time as having fun, it’s just a win, win, win situation!

Heyyy, my name is Doodle :)! This past year I’ve been finishing up my studies at Holy Cross high school in Surrey, B.C., and organizing for my journey to the University of Victoria in the fall. I’ll be studying towards an English Major in the Faculty of Humanities with the desire to find a path to a hopefully unique future career. Tulahead has been part of my life for a whole eight years, and going from camper, to LIGHTer to volunteer, I am really, realllllllyyy stoked about being a cabin leader this summer! I love the environment, people and adventures that Tulahead holds every summer, and the beauty of the valley the camp is located in encourages me spiritually every year. Camp Tulahead is a place where the love I find there inspires growth, laughter, fun and community, and to be able to experience all of that through the campers, and other staff members this summer is truly a blessing. I can’t wait to see all your smiling faces!

Heyo! My name is Jenna and I currently go to Trinity Western University. I am going into my third year with hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher. This will be my first summer at Camp Tulahead, although I have been to Tulahead for youth retreats during high school. I have been involved in camp ministry for the past four years and cannot wait to see what God has planned for this summer!

Hi, my name is Adrian Van Loo and this will be my 3rd summer here at Camp Tulahead. I am currently working as a home maintenance manager. I have been leading a Bible Study and also been a Youth Leader for the past 2 years, as well as regularly attending my church’s College and Career group. I look forward to being a Cabin Leader as well as being able to work with the LIGHT program for the first time. In the fall I will be continuing my education with Briercrest College via their Distance Learning program. That’s really all I can think of for right now, so it was nice cybernetically meeting you!

Hi! My name is Kia. This past year I have been studying linguistics and business at Trinity Western University in Langley BC. I have been connected to camp since 2007, and this will be my third summer on staff. I love spending my summer outdoors, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and getting to know a bunch of awesome campers and staff!!

Hi, my name is Aaron. This past year I have been in university studying psychology and philosophy at Kwantlen University. I am working to get a Double Minor in both subjects and then a Master’s in Divinity. It had been a ton of fun! Personally, this will be my first summer at Tulahead but my church has been connected with Tulahead for a long time. For myself, camp has been an unforgettable experience. It has stretched me to grow into a deeper, better person and has left me with many memories. I would be ecstatic if I could help give that experience to other kids. Camp also has given me a deeper understanding of Jesus, who I believe is an important asset to living a fulfilled life.

Hey, I’m Alistair – this will be my second year at Tulahead and I can’t wait. I have just finished my degree in History at the University of Gloucestershire! Have been filling my time up with Church, CU and the Uni Street Dance Team! Camp is an amazing opportunity to meet new people and be with God – See you there!
